This is a Galliard Brass concert program presented at the First Presbyterian Church of Northville Michigan, July 9, 2000. At the request of the presenter, and because of its close proximity to the Independence Day holiday, the majority of the program featured American music. All GBE programs can be customized to your event, holiday, or audience. In addition, programs present a wide spectrum of styles, such as the contemporary writing of Thom Ritter George, the distinctively American sound of Aaron Copland, and the jazz-influenced sounds of George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, and Duke Ellington.
The most requested program presented by the Galliard Brass Ensemble is “Revelry of Brass,” a thrilling mixture of Baroque, nineteenth century, jazz, and show music. Time and again, this exciting GBE program brings audiences to their feet, clapping for an encore. “Holiday Brass” is a festive program of seasonal Christmas and Hanukah music, featuring carols and other holiday selections from the GBE Musical Heritage Society record albums. Since their first recording in1980, the Galliard Brass has received international recognition and acclaim for their recordings. Their “Carols for Brass” recording holds the distinction of being Musical Heritage Society’s most popular holiday album of all time. “Music for Organ and Brass” is a concert program that draws from the Galliard Brass Ensemble’s recording partnership with Dr. Marilyn Mason of The University of Michigan School of Music. In addition to her numerous other meritorious achievements, Dr. Mason was the first American woman to play at Westminster Abbey, and has served for over sixty years on The U of M faculty. “Music for Organ and Brass” is a program that combines the powerful and expressive characteristics of the organ with the exhilarating, virtuosic sounds of the GBE.
Finally, the Galliard Brass Ensemble can customize a concert specifically for your audience. The GBE will work with you to create programming that will be well-received by your unique community, while guaranteeing a high quality performance that is engaging and entertaining.
